Add in the fact that Aaron and I are recent college graduates who haven’t let go of our college eating habits and you’ve got quite a challenge!
One of Aaron’s favorite foods is pizza so I decided I’d make homemade pizza to cut back on the grease and make it more affordable.
Aaron really likes stuffed crust pizza, so I recruited my sister-in-law to help and we attempted to create our own recipe for it.
We took a gamble, but it came out amazing and this recipe was too easy and tasty not to share!
For children, college kids or kids at heart, you can’t go wrong with cheesy, meaty homemade pizza.
Homemade Stuffed Crust Pizza
1 pizza crust mix (We used Martha White)
1/2 cup pizza sauce
4 sticks of mozzarella string cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 lb lean ground beef, browned and drained
Additional pizza toppings to taste (We added pepperoni.)
1. Preheat oven to temperature listed on pizza dough mix. Prepare dough according to mix directions. Spread out dough into a pizza bigger than needed; when you stuff the crust you’ll use the excess.
2. Cut up string cheese into 1 inch pieces. Place pieces around edge of the pizza crust. Roll crust over cheese.3. Top crust with pizza sauce and toppings. Bake for 8-10 minutes. (This is where the “Hunk of Meat Monday” part comes in. Nothing beats a homemade meat lover’s pizza!)
If you think those photos look good, you should try this amazing pizza for yourself!
We paired it with homemade trays of in season vegetables and fruit to add a healthy twist.
